Compare the same prescribed medicine, strength and quantity per order. Enter the actual number of orders, prescription fees and paid deliveries for one chosen period. We do not assume one prescription or one delivery charge covers six months or a year. Amounts start blank; the two optional other-cost fields start at £0.
Use whole-number counts and pounds with up to two decimal places. Enter 0 only when you know a fee is not charged. If order prices or delivery fees differ, compare those batches separately rather than rounding an average. Add any different consultation, monitoring, collection or travel costs to the appropriate other-cost field; shared costs cancel only when they really are the same.
Complete all amounts and charge counts to calculate. At least one order is required; blank or invalid values are not treated as free.
Arithmetic example — not measured medicine prices
Six matching orders at £52 from the vet total £312. At £34 elsewhere, plus two £18 prescription fees and six £4 deliveries, the alternative total is £264: £48 less before any other costs. These are invented amounts and counts, not a prescribing schedule or a national price statistic.
