Itemised vet bills

The CMA guidance says veterinary businesses must provide pet owners with an itemised bill under the treatment-information remedies.

What this means

  • Itemised bills help owners understand consultations, medicines, diagnostics and treatment line items.
  • A clear bill also helps owners compare a quote or invoice with published routine-care pricing.
  • Campaign 4 bill-checker tools will use itemised line items, but user uploads will not enter statistics without verification.

Timing

The CMA guidance says larger businesses are due to provide itemised bills from June 2027, and smaller businesses from September 2027.
