Check the pre-operative and lens package
Ask whether the initial referral consultation, ultrasound, ERG, blood testing, artificial lens, anaesthesia and hospitalisation are included. Dick White includes applicable imaging and lens but excludes laboratory tests and medications; Eye Vet includes its initial consult and two weeks of standard medication.
Sources: Dick White Referrals · Eye VetWorked example: the headline can omit a listed consultation
Clarity lists one-eye surgery at £4,275 and an initial referral consultation at £195. If that consultation is additional for the case, the arithmetic total is £4,470 before any other non-included item. Eye Vet’s £5,100 package includes the initial consult, but a dog of 40kg or more adds its stated £70 supplement, giving £5,170 before charged post-operative checks. Confirm applicability rather than treating these totals as quotes.

Dick White includes the first re-examination but excludes medications. Eye Vet includes two weeks of standard medication but lists post-operative checks at £82 during the first three months. Paragon includes a post-operative ophthalmologist check. Ask for the expected charged schedule in writing.

The responsible ophthalmology team must assess the animal and discuss options and risks. This guide does not recommend surgery, predict results or replace an individual estimate. Seek prompt veterinary advice for urgent eye concerns.
Add up your itemised veterinary estimate
Copy the charges from the written estimate for the service your vet has proposed. If a package includes an item, do not add that item a second time.
Enter your own quotes, including VAT where payable. Prices are deliberately blank. Enter zero for a charge that does not apply. Calculations stay in your browser; quoted amounts are not sent to us.
This only adds your entered charges. It does not select tests, surgery or treatment, predict complications, or replace a written veterinary estimate. Confirm VAT and the estimate limits with the provider.
Worked arithmetic example
Arithmetic illustration only: a £1,000 package plus a separately charged £150 consultation totals £1,150. These are not observed prices or recommended services.
Method: multiply each price by its quantity, round each line to the nearest penny, then add. No inflation or unentered charges are assumed.
