The chicken landing page checked shows a 125g/day portion from £1.65 before its advertised 25% discount, displayed as £1.24 with the offer. This is not a full-feeding quote for an average dog. Get your personalised recurring total before deciding.
A pricing and terms review based on brand sources checked 10 September 2026. No hands-on feeding test or independent health assessment is claimed.

Three explicit portion scenarios, without invented brand quotes

250g and 500g are arithmetic inputs, not feeding advice or portions assigned to a dog weight. Never scale the 125g price linearly to invent larger-plan quotes.
Check the actual delivery weight and renewal instructions
Use the grams on your genuine quote to check whether the whole delivery fits your freezer. A 28-day 250g/day scenario is 7kg of food, but pack shape and insulation mean kilograms alone do not give the freezer space required. Confirm actual pack dimensions and food-storage instructions for the order.
Record trial length, first renewal charge date, grams per pack, recipe supplements, shipping and the edit cut-off. The public from-price does not establish those fields for a particular dog. We have not created customer accounts, ordered trial boxes or measured storage capacity.
Why the from-price may not match your quote
The advertised example is tied to a particular small portion. The terms describe a plan affected by details including weight and activity, and calculate the box price when the order is processed. A larger dog's quote should not be estimated by assuming the headline price covers every dog.
Record your dog's profile and recipe selection with the quote. That makes a later price comparison possible without confusing a portion change with a price increase.

Constructed example: a £84 box providing 28 days of food is £3/day, equivalent to £1,095 for 365 days at the same price. A £84 box lasting 14 days is £6/day and £2,190/year. The identical box price conceals a twofold difference.
For a mixed feeding plan, add the other food before comparing annual totals. Include all selected extras in cash spending, but do not label treats as part of the cost of the main diet.
The trial leads into another delivery
Butternut's help page describes a seven- or fourteen-day first box, followed automatically by another box after that interval. It says the paid first order cannot be cancelled or edited, while future boxes can be managed after receipt. Check your account's next order details promptly rather than assuming a trial ends by itself.

The recipe page says meals arrive frozen and gives storage instructions after thawing and opening. Check those instructions for the recipes you buy and make sure the delivery quantity fits your freezer.
This assessment explains price and ordering. It does not establish that fresh food is healthier than another suitable complete diet, or that your dog will prefer it. For a dog on a prescribed diet, obtain veterinary advice before changing food.
Sources: Butternut BoxCompare two payment schedules
Compare the trial, renewal and delivery costs in your two food quotes. Only compare portions and feeding coverage you understand; a lower cost does not mean equal nutrition.
Use your actual quotes and billing intervals. Amounts stay in your browser. The horizon starts with a payment on your chosen date and excludes a renewal exactly at its end. Include other consumables separately; do not treat these totals as every possible ownership expense.
Worked example and limitations
Illustration only: starting 1 January 2027, a £28 payment every 28 days produces 14 payments (£392) before 1 January 2028. A £28 calendar-month payment produces 12 payments (£336). The first option also supplies periods extending beyond the horizon: cash paid is not the same as food consumed or like-for-like value.
The same price is assumed at each renewal unless you enter a different first payment. No later price changes, cancellation refunds, partial-period refunds, interest or inflation are predicted. Calendar-month dates keep the original day where possible and use the month’s last day otherwise. Confirm the provider’s actual billing rules.
