Add the food outside a partial plan before deciding
Constructed matched-cost illustration: a £50 partial box lasting 28 days plus £1/day of other food costs £78 over that period before delivery. A £75 full-feeding quote would cost £3 less if delivery were identical and both choices were appropriate. The £50 headline alone would imply the opposite result.
Get the same cat’s profile recorded with both actual offers and keep their individual portions. A change of recipe, coverage or portion calls for a new comparison; equal grams or numbers of packs do not prove equal energy or suitability.
Create a matched comparison
Use the same cat's weight, age and activity details and specify whether each plan supplies all food or only part. Note the recipes, calories supplied where available, delivery charge and interval. Only then compare a daily cost.
If one offer is complete feeding and the other is supplementary, add the missing food to the latter before judging value. A tin and a tray are packaging units, not equivalent nutritional units.
Why a more expensive second box may not be a price rise
KatKin's standard renewal covers 28 days, following a 14-day trial. Add its £2.99 delivery charge to each ongoing box. The delivered range of £63.95–£82.02 is approximately £833.63–£1,069.19 per 365 days of consumption, calculated from the unrounded box total. This assumes one standard plan, unchanged prices and portions, and excludes trial savings.
That consumption equivalent differs from cash paid for whole boxes. Use the scheduled payment dates for a first-year cash budget. A 28-day cycle is not twelve deliveries a year.

Constructed comparison: if matched quotes were £2.20 and £2.60 per day, the difference would be £12 over 30 days and £146 over 365 days. Those are hypothetical quote values, not observed KatKin and Untamed prices.
That annual gap is a clearer decision than a trial saving of a few pounds. Add any other food and delivery charges, and consider whether the storage and ordering routine is workable.
What this comparison can and cannot decide
It can help you identify the more affordable quote for your household and understand practical ordering differences. It does not establish which food your cat will eat or which is medically appropriate. Ingredient marketing and online testimonials are not a substitute for those answers.
Check complete-feed status and the suitability of the exact recipe. Ask your vet before changing a therapeutic diet or food used to manage an existing condition.
Compare two payment schedules
Compare the trial, renewal and delivery costs in your two food quotes. Only compare portions and feeding coverage you understand; a lower cost does not mean equal nutrition.
Use your actual quotes and billing intervals. Amounts stay in your browser. The horizon starts with a payment on your chosen date and excludes a renewal exactly at its end. Include other consumables separately; do not treat these totals as every possible ownership expense.
Worked example and limitations
Illustration only: starting 1 January 2027, a £28 payment every 28 days produces 14 payments (£392) before 1 January 2028. A £28 calendar-month payment produces 12 payments (£336). The first option also supplies periods extending beyond the horizon: cash paid is not the same as food consumed or like-for-like value.
The same price is assumed at each renewal unless you enter a different first payment. No later price changes, cancellation refunds, partial-period refunds, interest or inflation are predicted. Calendar-month dates keep the original day where possible and use the month’s last day otherwise. Confirm the provider’s actual billing rules.
