Levoit Vital 100S is a useful smart-control shortlist, Blueair Blue Max 3250i an alternative compact design, and IKEA STARKVIND a clearly specified option with separate particle and gas filters. Compare clean-air delivery and annual filter costs; no model here is presented as a treatment for allergies or asthma.
Research-based comparison of published specifications, manuals and UK buying conditions, checked on 10 September 2026. We have not physically tested these products. Recommendations describe the use case each design suits; they are not clinical assessments or a claim to have tested every product. Amazon search links are not verified offers or stock checks. Options to compare
These are research-based comparisons, not hands-on tests or clinical endorsements. The best choice depends on your pet and home. Retailer links on this page are not affiliate links; availability and prices can change.
Owners wanting smart controls and a cleanable pre-filter
Levoit Vital 100S
A UK product with identifiable replacement filters and a recent independent usability review.
- Do not substitute Vital 200S test results.
- Main replacement filter is an ongoing cost.
Owners comparing compact room purifiers
Blueair Blue Max 3250i
Worth comparing against the same room-volume and noise assumptions.
- Verify the 3250i version rather than Auto.
- Check replacement-filter cost and technology before buying.
Buyers wanting separately priced filter options
IKEA STARKVIND black 305.019.63
Published airflow for both filter configurations makes comparison more transparent.
- Optional gas filter and app hub add cost.
- The table version is a different purchase.
Compare clean-air delivery, not the largest room claim
Manufacturers may quote an area cleaned once an hour or several times an hour. Those claims cannot be compared without the same ceiling height and air-change assumption. Divide the clean-air delivery rate in cubic metres per hour by room volume to calculate a theoretical air-change rate.
For example, a 20 m² room with a 2.4 m ceiling has a volume of 48 m³. A stated 240 m³/h clean-air rate gives five theoretical changes per hour at the corresponding setting. That is arithmetic, not a medical recommendation or proof of uniform cleaning in a furnished room.
Particle removal and odour control are separate tasks
A particle filter captures particles passing through it. Gas and odour performance depends on a different medium and its capacity. Check whether the carbon or gas filter is included, separately priced or bonded to the particle filter.
IKEA lists STARKVIND at 55–270 m³/h with its particle filter, and 50–240 m³/h with particle and gas filters together. That illustrates why the installed filter arrangement matters. We do not equate a quoted filtration percentage with whole-room performance or make a medical benefit claim.
Sources: IKEACalculate the bill at the speed you will use
Total annual cost is replacement filters plus electricity. At an illustrative 25p/kWh, continuous 20 W operation costs £43.80 a year; 35 W costs £76.65. Use the appliance’s actual consumption at your chosen setting and your tariff for a personal estimate.
Levoit’s UK page shows £39.99 for a Vital 100S replacement filter. Annual spending depends on the replacement interval and your room. A washable pre-filter does not mean the main filter can be washed or used indefinitely.
Sources: LevoitWhat independent reviews can establish
Ideal Home tested the Vital 100S at home and found its controls straightforward, while noting limits relative to more powerful models. That supports its usability shortlist, not a pet-allergy claim. A review of the larger Vital 200S cannot establish the smaller 100S’s performance.
We selected identifiable UK versions with documented operation. We have not performed matched noise, particle-clearance or gas-removal tests. Avoid choosing solely from an enormous maximum-room figure; examine the operating mode, filter availability and return terms. Check the exact Blueair model because 3250 Auto and 3250i names should not be merged.
Sources: Ideal Home · BlueairCompare airflow at the installed filter configuration
Vital 100S publishes 243 m3/h CADR and recommends replacing its main filter every 8-12 months. Blue Max 3250i publishes 239 m3/h, 18-46 dB and up to 20 W. Those figures are useful only when the chosen speed is tolerable enough to leave running.
STARKVIND publishes 55-270 m3/h with the particle filter and 50-240 m3/h with particle and gas filters, so adding the gas filter changes the airflow basis. Its manufacturer recommends checking replacement within about six months. Price the exact filter configuration, replacement cadence and electricity at your tariff rather than treating washable pre-filters as lifetime main filters.
- Excluded: No allergy-treatment or asthma-treatment claim.
- Excluded: No ranking by maximum room-area headline because suppliers use different air-change assumptions.
- Excluded: No fixed annual filter bill where replacement timing depends on use or conflicting supplier guidance.
Compare the complete equipment basket
Use the exact model and size you intend to buy. Add essential accessories and consumables for a clearly chosen period; do not count included parts twice.
Enter your own quotes, including VAT where payable. Prices are deliberately blank. Enter zero for a charge that does not apply. Calculations stay in your browser; quoted amounts are not sent to us.
Replacement frequency is your assumption unless independently measured. Keep kilograms and litres distinct. This total excludes subscriptions and electricity unless you include them in additional charges.
Worked arithmetic example
Illustration only: a £100 delivered product plus 6 replacement packs at £5 totals £130. This is not a product offer or lifespan estimate.
Method: multiply each price by its quantity, round each line to the nearest penny, then add. No inflation or unentered charges are assumed.
